A flower symbolizes a lot of what we feel. Most often they convey the message of love and attraction. In Hawaii, flowers play a major role in culture and the arts. It is one of the essential parts of their fashion, dance and festivals.
When you arrive at Hawaii, you will receive a lei. Leis are used to symbolize affection and love. They are commonly made from natural flowers that are popularly grown in Hawaii. Their Hawaiian orchids are the main source of flowers in their leis. They are naturally fragrant and take a longer time to lose their healthy glow. Some of the best orchids grown in Hawaii are Sharry Baby, Dendrobium and the Cattleya. Sharry Baby could last from two to four weeks. Dendrobium is elegant and comes in different colors. It comes in blood orange to tender pink. The cattleya gives a rich fragrance and a very gorgeous physical apprearance.
The flowers in Hawaii represent much of what you could expect in the islands. Their bright colors and exotic styles say that Hawaii is the placed to be because of its beauty and peace. The Hibiscus flower is the state flower of Hawaii. It is also called ma’o hau hele or pua aloalo in their local language. The hibiscus flower is large with up to 6 inches in diameter. It is naturally yellow with a center of maroon. It is actually from the hibiscus shrub that is used for most landscaping purposes in Hawaii. For those who don’t know, hibiscus is also used to make paper, teas and jams. There were also experiments that led to check the therapeutic benefits of its extract. The fibers of the hibiscus bark are also used as a material in grass skirts.
Hawaii has lots of the most beautiful flowers in the world. They also have exotic flowers like protea. Protea lasts for a longer time compared to the other flowers found in Hawaii along with their orchids. They could also be appreciated even with a dry look. Protea was named after the Greek God of the Sea, Proteus. They actually have lived for 300 years now due to the evidences found in fossils. Protea are excellent for flower arrangements in weddings and special occasions. After drying, they still provide the elegant muted look.
There are still more flowers that you could see in Hawaii. If you love to see the differences in each I am sure that you will have a lot of time inspecting, smelling and capturing their beauty in pictures. I am starting to collect the orchids on my own home and I have already a wide variety of them. I am still planning to have more from the list of flowers that I have mentioned here.
Visitors who come to Hawaii get so delighted when receiving their leis. They even receive one when they leave. The hospitality and beauty of Hawaii is truly captured in its flowers. I am collecting much love right now and soon I could gather all the love in Hawaii.
