In the Pacific, several artifacts and work of art can be seen in different art galleries. Most art pieces are from Polynesia, Micronesia, Melanesia and Indonesia. These galleries showcase a wide variety of art pieces like masks, figures, fabrics and architectural components, even bowls and other helpful elements. Art galleries focus on different things that an artist’s want to specify. One great thing this gallery could offer is the chance for the exhibitor to showcase his own piece of art. Other art galleries exhibit ancient artifacts about certain cultural background depending on the country or place that they want to boost. The basis of choosing things that an art gallery could display may depend on the prerogative of the artist. This is also in line with the Artist’s personal conviction.

In Hawaii for example, there are well known art galleries in the island. These galleries flaunt the amazing history of the island through displaying their culture using different artifacts. Some well-known art galleries in the island are Fine Art Associates at the Artloft located at Honolulu, which pieces are inspired from the traditional style, making them into a more contemporary attack. Kim Taylor Reece gallery features the work of Kim Taylor Reece who was known as Hawaii’s leading photographer that display hula and hawaiiana. There are also some artists that are environmentally inspired like the Galerie Lassen of Christian Riese Lassen.

There is also a gallery which purpose is for helping students and faculty members of the Art department to exhibit the historical and contemporary art of hawaii, this is the University Of Hawaii Art Gallery. The Naturally Hawaiian Gallery parade the passion of Patrick Ching a prominent wildlife artist. These art galleries truly reveal the colorful world of the island.

In Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, some galleries exhibit some famous artifacts of the country. One famous inhabitants of the country are the Asmat, they are known as warriors renowned for their warfare and hunting skills. Asmat shields or Jamasj is one great artifact which is displayed in most galleries in New Guinea and Indonesia. These shields are believed to have the ability to protect the Asmat from the spiritual powers and physical attacks of the enemy. This shield has different kinds as well. One that was found in Indonesia is adorned with tree kangaroo tail outline while there is another one is carved with a very strange floral shape.

Most countries in the Pacific are of different ethnic origin. The history of each one can be seen through the product of their masterpieces. It is always an advantage that people can learn something about the culture, beliefs and even history of a certain country through art. It is no doubt that this medium through the use of such galleries constitute a vast approach of revealing the true side of what happen at the past. The Colorful Truth about Photography

Photography is the art of documenting pictures by catching light with the use of a light sensitive means like film or electronic sensor. Pictures may also be saved through magnetic memory as well. The word photography came from the French word photographie which was from the Greek words Phos “light” and graphis “stylus”. It constitutes the blending of drawing and light. The result was then called as photograph or photo in shorter term. This uses a certain device which is known as the camera that holds the product electronically. Photography is widely done for science, art, business and leisure purposes.

Photography came from many scientific breakthroughs, even before the first photograph have been created, there has a lot of inventions that has been discovered. One particular instance was during the year 965 until 1040 that Ibn-al Haytham or Alhazen created the pinhole camera and the camera obscura. Later, on 1193 to 1280, Albertus Magnus found out silver nitrate then followed by Georges Fabricius, during 1516 until 1571 that discovered silver chloride. Since then Photography continuously developed thru several discoveries of different people.

The first photograph that was discovered was during the 1820s. This is created by Nicephore Niepce who was of a French origin. Unluckily, this photograph only took eight hours to be exposed. At that point, Niepce together with Louis Daguerre tried to mix silver with chalk mixture. This idea came from Johann Heinrich Schultz in 1724 that proves that when silver is combined with a chalk mixture, this could darken a certain piece when it is exposed to light. After such experiment, a lot of similar innovations were also discovered throughout the world.

In the modern times, cameras have special features and controls that could enhance the quality of the photograph. This could make the pictures clearer and more elucidated. Some controls which can be seen in most cameras are the Focus, which acts as an adjustment in order for you to have that superb view of an object. Second is the Aperture, this one manipulates the quantity of light that will pass through the lenses. Then there is the Shutter speed that controls the time when a medium is exposed to light. White balance on the other hand is the thing that makes sure the white light is rolled in order to make the frame colors more natural in mere sense. These features are some of the qualities most cameras have and there are even more attributes that are in store for you.

The world of photography nowadays is more and more creative in many aspects. Since technology is continuously advancing itself, photographers find more techniques in order to improve each picture that they are producing. Latest computer software’s can be used to augment some distorted photos as well as increase the aura of a certain part in that particular picture. It is truly very amazing that this kind of art gives a certain person the chance to cherish some moments in their lives that are memorable. Photograph is a great souvenir a person could have that mirror the life he or she ones have.

The Graceful World of Performance Art

Unlike the art of painting and sculpture, performance art constitutes four basic factors such as space, time, and body of the artist and the connection of the performer to the audience. This encompasses passion and connectivity. Usually, when people say performance art they thought of circus related things like fire breathing, gymnastics, juggling and many more. They think it is only associated with theater, music and dance.

Performance art is not only evident in the traditions of Europe but may also be seen in Asia, Latin America and United States. This type of art is performed in front of many viewers whether it is integrated with dance, music or total silence but this one is more eccentric unlike the usual performing arts. The show may or may not have a script or could be an ad-lib. The show could be for profit or for charity purpose depending on the theme.

Performance Art started during the 1960s in the United States. At first, this medium is termed as any live form of art that showcase musicians, film makers, poets and a lot more. During this time, they call it as Events, Concerts or Happenings. Although performance art is noticed during the 1960’s, it is still manifested that there are related shows similar to this one even before 1960s. One good example is the Dadaists performance which is a network of poetry. Another one is a theater workshop known as the German Bauhaus which was shown during 1919 that portrays the relationship of sound, light and space.

What is the distinctiveness of Performance Art? Performance Arts are done live. This type of art is literally not saleable but since it is a show, tickets and film rights are sold. This is not bound for any guidelines or rules and very experimental. This mix all types of arts such as painting, sculpture,  poetry, music, film footage, dance, dialogue, live animals and fire in one single shot. Quite amazing isn’t it?

Upon watching such art, viewers could get different kinds of emotion. It could be entertaining, horrifying, hilarious or shocking. Of course, each piece is done in order to amaze the crowd that would make the viewers experience a memorable one.

There are well known women who manage to conquer the world of performance art. They find it more interesting because they believe traditional mode of art like painting and sculpture are mostly controlled by men. But there are still men who are great performance artist such as Allan Kaprow and John Cage. In addition to that, some well-known female performance artists have been their previous students. Perhaps the most popular female performance artist is Laurie Anderson. Laurie made great innovations when it comes to performance. She made a neck tie that play music, a violin that talks, and had a pair of sunglasses that features a microphone that would turn its head into a beating orchestra. Of course there’s Meredith Monk, a composer that pioneer modern technique in vocal aspects. Laurie and Monk are not the only women who are known in this field but there are more.

This only shows that performance art is a great way to express one’s individuality as well.

It is very in demand that wedding ceremonies nowadays are done in tropical places. This catches the attention of many foreigners like Americans and Japanese couples. Tahiti is the great place where couples could experience the most memorable event of their lives. Given the fascinating view of the island, luscious ambiance and wonderful accommodation, Tahiti indeed is one remarkable place one should go to.

Tahiti is believed to be discovered during the year of 1500s. This is the time where great European voyagers were exploring the Pacific Islands. Even before that period, migrations of different nations are widely seen in the area. Native Hawaiians and Maoris of New Zealand speak the same language called as “Maohi”. During the 1800s, there has been great competition for supreme ownership of the islands. After the death of King Pomare V, the islands were given to France and became a French territory which is later on called as French Polynesia. It was in 1984 that Tahiti was given its own governing body and powers. This opens new doors for commerce and business ventures in Tahiti since then. wedding Photo by Lotustar.com

In Tahiti, there are different resorts which offer different kind of wedding ceremony. In InterContinental Resort, they have the intimate Tahitian wedding rite. Couples are offered a song by Tahitian trio while the wedding partners exchange tiare leis, (tiare is a pinwheel shaped white flower having a sweet smell). The wedding ceremony is headed by a Tahitian priest. Then a certificate of marriage is being given, covered in a handmade quilt called tifaifai. Each resort has its own prestigious style of wedding ritual; you may visit the net for information each resort has to offer.

Actually, Tahiti is not only great for newlyweds but for those renewing their wedding vows as well. You may renew your intimate feelings for each other once you have visited the place. It is very romantic and relaxing for you and your partner. Experience the passion and solemnity of the place. Do different activities together from island hopping, diving, swimming and many others.

But wait… be advised that Tahitian wedding ceremonies are not legal in United States. Americans however may choose to have legal weddings at their place and later on experience the Tahitian way of wedding vow. You just have to provide a Certificate of No Impediment or “Certificate de Coutume” in French. Others call it as Certificate of Freedom to Marry or “Certificate of Nulla Osta”. You must also furnish a celibacy certificate, and birth certificates of each person. On the other hand, if you are a French citizen, you have to provide birth certificates of each one which are dated not more than 3 months. You must also have a prenuptial medical certificate, certificate of residency which is at least a month, birth certificates of living children and lastly a copy of notarized wedding contract.

So better get going and savor the real taste of the Tahitian way of wedding ceremony and let the experience be the most remarkable part of your life. Enjoy! by  Pacific Weddings and wedding theme

The Cultural Way of Wedding in Thailand

In today’s world where people are so busy with the city life plus the immersed pressure from the economic crisis, it is truly a need for some people to look for places where relaxation and calmness is situated. Especially if someone is planning to settle down and tie the knot. This important event in a person’s life is something to cherish and look for. That is why many couples are dreaming to have that amazing wedding for them.

Of course when it comes to planning a wedding, couples should choose a location where happiness, peace and solemnity are incorporated. Many are choosing to have it in a beach with crystal clear water, appealing coconut trees near the shore and fine powder sand. A tropical experience destined to be enjoyed by couples who would like to treasure such remarkable event of their life.

That is where Thailand enters the planning scene for your wedding. In Thailand there are different types of wedding ceremony but the most prominent type is having the traditional Thai ceremony. Usually, most Thai weddings are prearranged. Meaning couples are already matched by their parents even before they were born. This is very evident to families in a high society who widely practice this one. Although this type of matchmaking is rare to other people, dowries or “sinsod” are still given and the parents of the couple settle for the amount of it. The amount is the value of the woman who will be given to his future husband. It is said that fifty thousand baht is the value for a usual girl from a farm, while hundreds, thousands or even million is for a girl who came from a very rich family or wealthy clan. Most weddings in Thailand are in Buddhist ceremony. This type is not merely legal in mere sense but for people in Thailand it is a practice where guidance and blessing from monks are sufficient for couples to be joined together and at the same time this eliminates the very thought of taking your married life into legality in other word. Monks are present in the wedding ceremony but such ceremony does not take place in the temple itself. The ceremony is started by bowing in front of Buddha where they spur their prayers while holding lighted incense. The couple submits flowers and food to the attending monks at the same time gives a cash gift enclosed in an envelope. Wedding ceremonies are done usually in the house of the bride in the morning because monks are not allowed to eat after the middle of the day. There should be three to nine monks in a certain ceremony having one lead monk who will bless the merger of the couple.

It is true that it is always the couple’s prerogative to have the kind of ceremony for their memorable wedding. Whether it is legal or faith inclined belief, there is no question that Thailand has a very distinct and remarkable culture when it comes to wedding traditions. by  Pacific island Weddings and wedding theme
